Betty Haferkamp

BETTY J. HAFERKAMP, 90, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 3:50 am, Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Three Springs Lodge Nursing Home, Chester, Illinois.

She was born to the late Douglas R. and Gladys A. (nee Small) Smith on November 9, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri.

She married Earl Haferkamp, Sr. on November 15, 1947 in Vinta Park, Missouri; he preceded her in death on May 10, 2006.

Betty and her husband purchased Superior Cleaners in Chester, Illinois from the Pauley Family in 1975 and owned the business for over 15 years.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Chester, Illinois. She taught children’s 4 ^th grade Sunday School class at First Baptist Church in Chester and First Baptist Church in Ferguson, Missouri for many years. She also served as a church clerk for nearly 20 years. Betty sang in the church choir at First Baptist Church, Chester, West Park Baptist Church, Wellston, Missouri, and First Baptist Church in Ferguson, Missouri. Her and her husband loved the Lord and served where they were needed.
