He was born to Claude and Rosa Simpson on April 16, 1949 at St. Clement’s Hospital, Red Bud, Illinois. In September 1969, he married Margaret Jefferson and they have been blessed with a large family. Their five children are Jeremy (Tracey), Rhett (Sara), Luke (Glennda), Erin (Mike) Liefer, and Meghan (Jason) Markotay. Also enriching their lives are eight granddaughters Brooke, Madi, Tess, Maggie, Lainey, Roxy, Claire, and Cloe and eight grandsons Jack, Max, Will, Jake, Cole, Cletus, Everett, and Tate.
Justin is also survived by his mother-in-law Tillie Jefferson, a brother Jim (Joanne) Simpson and five sisters Claudene Chunn, Beulah Robert, Doris Wilson, Joyce (Don) Parrone and Kathy (Jim) Coop. His older brother Dan and younger sister Peggy preceded him in death.
Justin began his education at St. Patrick’s School then graduated from Red Bud High School and went to earn a degree in Animal Industries at SIU Carbondale. He was involved in agriculture his entire life with farming, raising swine and horses, and selling Crows and Pioneer seed to area farmers.
In his free time he loved to hunt, horseback ride, travel, garden, and read. He also enjoyed calling his children and grandchildren together for 4-H activities, family hayrides, fish fries, mushroom hunts, trail riding, to enjoy his homemade chili, and to even have a stomping good dance contest. He is proud of the fact that his grandchildren are the seventh generation to live on the family farm.
