Sr. Marciana Heimann

She was born to the late Herman and Rosa (nee Richter) Heimann on March 1, 1928 in New Baden, Illinois.

She made her first profession on July 1, 1946 and her final vows on July 1, 1951. She had been professed for 71 years.

She earned her nursing degree at St. Mary’s Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri in 1953 and her degree in Physical Therapy in 1955.

Sr. Marciana served as Head of Physical Therapy Department at St. Vincent (now Taylorville) Memorial Hospital in Taylorville, Illinois for 24 years.

After a sabbatical in 1979, she joined the Visiting Nurses’ Association in St. Louis for four years, while also serving at Regina Cleri, a home for retired clergy.

She served as Ruma Province Health Coordinator and Director of Nursing Relief for fourteen years.

Sr. Marciana’s final mission was in Herrin, Illinois at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Parish, where she served in various ministries in the parish. In 2000, she was commissioned as a nurse volunteer for health ministry in the parish. She kept current with updates in her ministry by attending workshops and in-service opportunities.

She began Living Mission in Later Life at the Ruma Center in 2016.

Survived by her 1 Brother – Arnold (Mary) Heimann, Step-Sister – Alice Zurliene, 3 Step-Sister-in-law – Vera, Dolores and Jane Netermeyer, Nieces, Nephews and the ASC community.

Preceded in death by her parents, her sister – Antoinette (Virgil) Engelmann and her brother – Herbert Heimann, 4 Step-Sisters – Martha (Edwin) Hortstmann, Marcella (Anthony) Dulle, Bernette (Vincent) Dulle, and Sr. Julie Netermeyer ASC and 4 Step-Brothers – Henry, Paul, Ralph and Elmer Netermeyer.
