Daniel Martin Henry Simpson

November 16, 1930 — February 6, 2018

DR. DANIEL MARTIN HENRY SIMPSON, 87, formerly of Ruma, Illinois, peacefully passed away at 3:33 pm, Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Heritage at Irene Woods in Collierville, TN.

He was born to the late Claude Henry and Nathalie Rosa (nee Kennedy) Simpson on November 16, 1930 in Randolph County, Illinois.

He earned a BS Chemistry and PhD Soil Chemistry & Soil Fertility from University of Illinois. He retired from W.R. Grace in 1989 after working there for almost 25 years. He also worked at Monroe Randolph Transit District from 2005-2012.

Daniel had served as a Sergeant in United States Army from 1953- 1955.

He was a member of the Elks Club and Lions Club.  He enjoyed playing cards (especially “I Win” a.k.a. Liverpool Rummy), cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team, watching and playing golf, compiling the Simpson genealogy and dancing. He enjoyed listening to Elvis, Jazz & Big Band. He is remembered for his twinkling blue eyes, mischievous smile and flirtatious, charming personality.

The family is sincerely grateful to the entire staff at Heritage at Irene Woods, Avalon Hospice, Davita Dialysis centers in Collierville, TN and Red Bud, IL, Dr. Nidal Rahal, Dr. Sanjeev Mittal and Dr. Stacy Smith while Danny was under their excellent and loving care.
