Jacqueline "Jackie" Mae Hogrefe

JACQUELINE “JACKIE” MAE HOGREFE, 90 , of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 4:58 am, Monday, February 5, 2018 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

She was born on April 8, 1927 in Chester, Illinois to Ray and Mary (nee Fleming) Lawder.

Jackie married Gilbert “Gibb” L. Hogrefe on January 26, 1946 in Chester, Illinois.  Jackie often referred to Gibb as her soulmate, and spoke so fondly of the years they spent together.  Gibb preceded her in death on April 12, 1985.

She had worked as book inspector for Spartan Printing.  She loved telling stories of the days she spent working there, and the memories she made with her coworkers, whom she cherished dearly.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Chester, Illinois, Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Chester River Rats.

Jackie was a creative soul, and loved to paint and write poems.  Later in life, Jackie referred to herself as “The Glitzy Grandma”.  She loved gold, sparkle, leopard print, all things “glitz”.

Jackie was loved by all, and had a heart as big as her personality.  She will be missed fiercely, and remembered fondly.
