CLEMENT “CLEM” J. WITTENAUER, 96, of Red Bud, Illinois, passed away at 1:30 pm, Friday, December 8, 2017 at Red Bud Regional Care, Red Bud, Illinois.
He was born to the late Walter and Frances (nee Kreher) Wittenauer on November 26, 1921 in Prairie du Long Township, Monroe County, Illinois.
He married Clara Schaefer on October 2, 1946 in Smithton, Illinois; she preceded him in death on April 18, 1981. Clem then married Bernice (nee Goetting) Hartmann on October 1, 1988 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Red Bud, Illinois; she preceded him in death on December 9, 2014.
Clem had been a farmer, he also sold real estate, was an inventor and prepared taxes. He also taught students to read at the Human Support System. Clem was very proud that he received his GED at the age of 65.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Red Bud, Illinois, Randolph County Farm Bureau, American Legion Post # 619 in Baldwin, Illinois, Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus # 12152 in Red Bud, and The Mule Team Teamsters.
Clem was a WWII veteran and severed in the Army Air Corp. He was stationed as a radar tech in Panama for 36 months. He also went on a Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.
