PAUL V. HIRTZ, 66 , of Ellis Grove, Illinois, passed away at 9:55 am, Monday, October 16, 2017 at John Cochran VA Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

He was born to the late Paul J. and Frances M. (nee VanderBol) Hirtz on December 16, 1950 in Norfolk, Virginia.

Paul was a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War and retired as a line repairman for the railroad.  He made a business of buying and selling knives after his retirement.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Chester, a member of Knights of Columbus #3790 in Chester and the Gateway Area Knife Club.

Paul had a deep love of family and friends and will always be remembered for his generosity and helpfulness.  He was devoted to his mother, moving to Virginia for a year to assist in her care.  We all remember the many gatherings, enjoying him playing the guitar and singing.
