She was born on May 31, 1957 in Chester, Illinois.

Joyce married Donald Hicks on May 31, 1978 in Percy, Illinois. He survives.

She was of the Christian faith.

Joyce was a loving mother and grandmother and was proud of her career as a CNA for local nursing homes. She loved Christian music on JOY FM radio and her dogs, and enjoyed reading, doing crafts, and yard sales.
