HARRY M. PETERS, 93, of Red Bud, Illinois, passed away at 8:00 am, Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Red Bud Regional Care, Red Bud, Illinois.
He was born to the late William and Ruth (Kempfer) Peters on September 21, 1923 in Ellis Grove, Illinois.
He married Dorothy Stamm on September 4, 1948 in Evansville, Illinois.
He had worked for General Motors Company in the Paint Department for over 30 years.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Red Bud, Illinois and American Legion Post #396 in Sparta, Illinois. Harry enjoyed gardening, watching his St. Louis Cardinals, playing pinochle and going to Auctions with his wife, looking for antiques.
Harry was a WWII Army Veteran. He served in Battery C. 10th Field Artillery and 27th Division New York National Guard. He entered the service on March 31, 1943 at Camp Roberts, California. He served at Hickam Air Strip, Hawaii, Ryaukyus Islands, Saipan and Tinian in Mariana Islands, Okinawa and in occupied forces at Wakamastu, Japan. He was discharged December 24, 1945 and he was awarded 3 Bronze Stars.
