Verna E Zanders

VERNA E. ZANDERS, 93, of Baldwin, Illinois, passed away at 2:00 am, Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Red Bud Regional Care, Red Bud, Illinois.

She was born to the late Lee and Clara (nee Nagel) Goetting on June 23, 1923 in Horse Prairie, Illinois.

She married Glenn G. Zanders on September 22, 1946 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Horse Prairie, Illinois; he preceded her in death on January 27, 1994.

Verna and her husband, Glenn, founded Glenn Zanders Fur and Sporting Good Company in 1962. She was very involved in the daily activities of the business until 2010 when the business moved to Sparta.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Baldwin, Illinois.

Verna loved to cook for her family and business associates. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to travel with her family.

4 Children: Cheryn (Bob) Sutton of Steeleville, IL, Dennis Zanders of Red Bud, IL, Katherine Zanders-Stellhorn & Brian Stellhorn of Red Bud, IL and Glenda Zanders-Schaffner & Herb Schaffner of Evansville, IL.   6 Grandchildren: Michael (Amy) Sutton, Laura (Tom) Pfeiffer, Christine (Brian) Cox, Stefanie Zanders (Fiancé Herb Seeger), Jill Zanders, and Carla (Derrick) Hess. 2 Step-Grandchildren: Kurt (Amy) Stellhorn and Stephen (Sarah) Stellhorn. 24 Great Grandchildren and Many Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends

Preceded in death by Parents, Husband – Glenn Zanders, 1 Brother – Harry Goetting, and Twin Sister – Bernice Wittenauer
