Ray Spahr

RAY SPAHR, 73, of Red Bud, Illinois, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.

He was born to the late Alvin and Irene (nee Newman) Spahr on July 3, 1943 in Peoria, Illinois.

He married Jean Cowell on July 29, 1972 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Red Bud, Illinois; she survives

He had been the Driver Ed Teacher at Red Bud High School for 34 years and also served as Athletic Director.  After retiring from the High School, he worked as a TSA consultant where he instructed and tested the screeners at 50 airports across the country.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Red Bud, Illinois.  He was also a member of Retired Teacher Association and North County Country Club.  He also had been a Khoury League Coach, Basketball Coach, Baseball Coach, Softball Coach and Golf Coach. He was also a member of a Poker Card Club for over 35 years with his good friends – Steve & Tari Henne, Ron & Cheryl Hood, John & Peggy Osman and Roger & Jean Sanheinrich.
