Rev. Charles Randolph Kribs

REV. CHARLES RANDOLPH KRIBS, 90, of Belleville, Illinois, passed away 11:20 pm, Friday, June 10, 2016 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Illinois.

He was born to the late William and Juanita (nee McGeehee) Kribs on October 2, 1925 in Gold Hill Township in Gallatin County, Illinois.

Charles attended St. Henry’s and graduated 1943.  He then attended Kenrick Seminary in St. Louis for 6 year and was ordained May 15, 1951 at the Cathedral in Belleville. He celebrated his 65th anniversary of his ordination last month.

He was assistant pastor at St. Mary Catholic Church in Centralia, Illinois, Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Herrin, Illinois, and Holy Angels in East St. Louis, Illinois. His first pastorate was at St. Leo Catholic Church in Modoc, Illinois in 1958; then, in succession, he was pastor at Immaculate Conception on Kaskaskia Island, Illinois, Chaplain at Menard Maximum Security Prison in Chester, Illinois, Chaplain at St. Mary Hospital in East St. Louis, Illinois, Pastor at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Metropolis, Illinois, Pastor at St. Paul Catholic Church in Vienna, Illinois, Pastor at St. Mary Help of Christians in Chester, Illinois, Pastor at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Smithton, Illinois. He retired in 1996 as pastor of his hometown parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairie du Rocher, Illinois.

Surviving are his two sisters - Pam (Kriete) Hollrah of St. Charles, MO and Joan Moran of Scottsdales, AZ, a n iece- Sandy (Steve) Otten of Chester, IL and a nephew - Rodney (Tammy) Kribs of Chester, IL and s everal more Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.

Preceding Father Kribs in death were his parents, step-mother - Grace Kribs, 3 Brothers - Gary, Lewis and Kenneth (Beulah) Kribs and one brother-in-law - Richard Moran.

The Very Reverend Eugene Wojcik, Vicar Forane for the West Vicariate, will receive the body of Father Kribs at 3:00 pm, Monday, June 20, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairie du Rocher, Illinois.  Visitation will be Monday, June 20 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Tuesday, June 21 from 9:00 am – 10:45 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairie du Rocher, Illinois.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairie du Rocher, Illinois with the Most Reverend Edward K. Braxton, Bishop of Belleville as the principal celebrant and Reverend Dennis Voss as homilist.  The burial will immediately following the Liturgy at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Prairie du Rocher, Illinois.

Memorial may be made to the Clergyman’s Aid Society, the Hincke-Sense Residence, Belleville, Illinois or the St. Joseph Catholic Church Bell Fund.
