NANCY ANN DAILEY
, 66, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away at 11:55 am, Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Brooke Knoll Village, Avon, Indiana.
She was born to George Harrison and Mildred (nee Kalinowski) Dailey, Sr. on September 4, 1949 in Eugene, Oregon.
Nancy was single her entire life and in many respects was a very private person. She did, however, have deep loves which included music (from rock and roll to new age to crooners to jazz), film (from slapstick comedy to science fiction to musicals to drama), and jewelry collecting. Personal relationships also were important to Nancy. Over her life, the most essential were tied to family—her parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, and, most recently, a crop of (grand) nieces and nephews. Another significant family was found at her work at GENCO—coworkers who supported her until the end.
Nancy grew up in Cahokia, IL, and, upon graduation from St. Teresa’s Academy in 1967, she immediately entered the world of work. She built a long career at Edison Brothers Shoes in St. Louis until 1995, where she applied her native mathematics and accounting skills to a range of wholesale, retail, and logistics positions. Wishing to make a change, she moved to Indianapolis using her talents in similar roles including working for supply chain and logistics leaders, Exel (2002-2006) and GENCO (2006-2015). Her final position with GENCO was Quality Auditor.
For Nancy, her deep Catholic faith was vital. Throughout her final 7 months of rapidly changing health, she never swayed from her core beliefs and genuinely knew what was in store for her upon her death. In her last month , she did become very peaceful with her approaching passing but also was forceful enough to use her logistics skills to make certain that her personal property and prized possessions were shared with loved ones and those in need.
Nancy will be deeply missed and not forgotten by family and friends.
