SISTER ROSE (MARGARET ROSE) SCHRAGE, ASC, 86, of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, Ruma Center, Ruma, Illinois, passed away at 11:50 am, Saturday, November 14, 2015 at the Ruma Convent. She was born to the late Bernard and Mary (nee Goestenkors) Schrage in St. Rose, Illinois on December 31, 1928. She made her first vows as an Adorer of the Blood of Christ on July 1, 1948 and perpetual profession on July 1, 1953. Sr. Rose served in elementary schools for 29 years, including SS. Peter and Paul in Waterloo, St. Elizabeth in East St. Louis, St. Bruno in Pinckneyville, Holy Family in Cahokia, St. Boniface in Evansville, St. Joseph in Olney and St. Matthew in Alton. She taught at St. Jerome in St. Louis and Visitation in Vienna, MO. She served as principal as well as teacher for 13 years. After her elementary school ministry, she served as a Houseparent at Catholic Children's Home in Alton, Illinois. Sr. Rose later served as assistant, then Executive Housekeeper as well as assistant to the administrator at DeMattias Hall, the community's house of studies near Saint Louis University. Her final 11 years in active ministry were spent as housekeeping and laundry supervisor in the Environmental Services Department at Nazareth Living Center in St. Louis. Sr. Rose earned her bachelor's degree in history at St. Louis University in 1967 and her master's in American History, also from SLU, in 1975. In a seminar on Religious Life held in Jefferson City, MO in 1965, she served as one of the discussion group leaders.
