MARVIN E. DIERKS, 78, of Chester, Illinois, was called to heaven at 2:20 pm on Friday, April 10, 2015, at Three Springs Lodge Nursing Home in Chester, IL. He was born to the late Ernest and Clara (nee: Ohlau) Dierks on June 7, 1936 in Ava, Illinois. He married Irene Ann Moll on June 20, 1959 in Chester, IL. She survives. Marvin was a lineman at General Motors in St. Louis for 28 ½ years. He had worked at the International Shoe Company in Chester. After retirement he enjoyed being a farmhand at the Wilson farm in Bremen, IL. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Chester, Illinois. He loved music and playing the accordion. He volunteered, along with his wife Irene, playing music at the two nursing homes in Chester. Marvin was a stoic man who was very caring and giving, always willing to help others in any way he could. He knew no strangers and always put others needs before his own.
