Luverne Egge-Woody

August 23, 1916 — March 6, 2015

LUVERNE EGGE-WOODY, 98, of Chester, Illinois, formerly of Portland, Oregon, passed away at 2:55 am on Friday March 6, 2015, at Three Springs Lodge Nursing Home in Chester, Illinois. She was born to the late Joseph and Edith (nee: Nehk) Kugler on August 23, 1916 in Friberg Township, Minnesota. LuVerne was married to Milton B. Egge on July 16, 1938. He preceded her in death on December 28, 1970. She then married David Woody on March 3, 1991. He preceded her in death on October 18, 1991. She was a child care provider. LuVerne was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Chester, IL. While in Portland Oregon she was a member of the LWML, LLL, Ladies Aid, a Sunday School Teacher, Founder and First President of City Wide Child Care, an Avon Representative and enjoyed Ballroom Dancing. Survivors 3 Children: Jerome M. Egge Belleville, PA Sherman I. Egge Woodland, WA Steven D. (Linda) Egge Chester, IL 2 Sisters: Berniece Braaten Kindred, ND LuJean Schei Underwood, MN 5 Grandchildren: Sonja Holtz Eric Egge Katrin Peachey Lisa Egge Steven Egge 13 Great Grandchildren 2 Great-Great Granddaughters Numerous Nieces and Nephews Preceded in death by: Parents, 2 Husbands, 3 Brothers - Roydon Kugler, Kenneth Kugler and Duane Kugler, 1 Sister - Marlys Johanson and 1 Grandson - Scott Egge It was LuVerne's wish to be cremated. Memorial Service: 1:00 pm Sunday March 8, 2015 Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, IL Visitation: Sunday, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, IL Officiating: Rev. Tim Landskroener Memorials: St. John Lutheran School Hospice of Southern Illinois Burial will be at a later date in Oregon.
