JANET S. ENGEL, 66, of Elkville, Illinois, passed away at 9:45 am, Thursday, August 28, 2014 at her residence. She was born to the late James Wesley and Mildred Lucille (nee Thompson) Loucks on August 21, 1948 in Tilden, Illinois. She married Omer Engel on January 28, 1977 in Cairo, Illinois; he preceded her in death on June 30, 2008. She had owned and operated Jans Beauty Bar in Chester for many years and also had worked at Caseys General Store in Chester. She was a member of Gospel Assembly Church in Chester and Elkville, where she also played the piano. She was also a member of Eagles Club Aerie #3252 in Chester, Illinois. Every Wednesday and Friday, Janet and her sisters (the Golden Girls) could be seen at the American Legion in Steeleville, playing cards with all their friends.
