LaVerne M. Young, 89, of Evansville, Illinois, passed away at 11:07 am Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville, Illinois. LaVerne was born to Clemens L. and Hilda (nee: Smith) Wunderlich on May 30, 1924 in Evansville, Illinois. She married Edward L. Young on October 2, 1946, in Evansville, Illinois. He preceded her in death on September 21, 1999. LaVerne was a homemaker. She was a devoted servant to her Lord and a life-long member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Evansville, IL. She was on the Altar Sodality and was a member of the Miraculous Medal for 65 years. She loved to play cards, dance, garden and quilt. Laverne was a terrific cook! She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. In later years of her life, LaVerne loved to travel. She was greatly loved and will be terribly missed by many.
