JOY DEAN SWEENEY, 84, of Freeburg, Illinois, passed away at 2:42 pm, Sunday, December 1, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Belleville, Illinois. She was born to the late James I. and Elizabeth (nee Riepa) Powell on January 13, 1929 in East St. Louis, Illinois. She married Clyde L. Sweeney; he preceded her in death. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Full Gospel Tabernacle in East St. Louis, Illinois. She loved spending time with her many grandchildren.
