CLARENCE E. "GENE" THROOP, 72, of Ellis Grove, Illinois, passed away at 8:40 pm, Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Memorial Hospital, Chester, Illinois. Gene was born to the late Clarence and Vivan (nee Johnson) on February 7, 1941, in Galesburg, Illinois. Gene married Janet Rae Herschbach on November 24, 1960 at Ellis Grove, Illinois: she preceded him in death on January 11, 2013. Gene had been a truck driver for the Gilster Mary-Lee Corporation for 50 years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Ellis Grove, Illinois, American Legion Post #487, Chester, Chester Moose Lodge #1764, and the Chester Eagles Club Aerie #3252.
