ELAINE MEIER SIMPSON, 82, of Red Bud, Illinois, passed away at 10:50 pm, Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Red Bud Regional Care, Red Bud, Illinois She was born to the late Victor and Martha (nee Schmidt) Plate on January 15, 1931 in Red Bud, Illinois She married Donald Meier on June 10, 1954; he preceded her in death in 1991. She married Daniel Simpson July 24, 1993 in Pigeon Ford, Tennessee; he survives. Elaine taught 3rd grade for the Red Bud School District for 37 years. She enjoyed music, swimming, boating, many other outdoor activities and spending time with her granddaughter, Janel. She was a former member of St. Peter United Church of Christ, Red Bud, Illinois and Red Bud Municipal Band. She is a member of the Retired Teacher Association.
