Bobbie Joe DeMent, 81, of Red Bud, Illinois, formerly of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 9:40 pm, Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at his home in Red Bud, Illinois. He was born to the late John and Annie (nee Siler) DeMent on November 5, 1931 in Cherry Valley, Arkansas. He married Wanda Hyde on November 21, 1953 in Kuttawa, Kentucky; she survives. He was a retired dietary manager for Menard Correctional Center and a Korean Army Veteran. He was a member of The First Baptist Church in Chester, Illinois, where he had served as Deacon for 23 years and is Deacon Emeritus, VFW Post #3553, American Legion Alva Courier Post #487 where he was Past Commander twice and AFSCME.
