WILLIAM "BILL" E. WILSON, 77, of Prairie du Rocher, Illinois, passed away at 3:10 am, Friday, June 28, 2013 at his residence. He was born to the late John Joseph and Mary Louise (nee Vollmer) Wilson on January 11, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri. He married Doris Simpson on August 13, 1955 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Ruma, Illinois; she survives. He served in the Navy and Air Force for 20 years and retired as T/ Sgt. He served on tours in Vietnam, Guam, Okinawa, Korea and Germany. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis, Postal Carrier in Red Bud, owned and operated B&D Standard Service Station in Red Bud and finally was an Independent Postal Carrier until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Ruma, Illinois. He was a member of American Legion Post #622 in Prairie du Rocher and past member of V.F.W. Post #6632 in Red Bud. During his teenage years; he worked at Park's Airport and he learned how to fly. He also helped on his family farm. He attended Red Bud High School and after graduation he joined the Navy. He also played saxophone in the Melody Makers. He enjoyed watching Cardinal's Baseball. Bill's pride and joy was his children and grandchildren.
