J. DEAN SMITH, 80, of Ellis Grove, Illinois, passed away at 5:35 pm, Thursday, June 13, 2013 in Yorkville, IL. He was born to the late Dean S. and Ethel (nee: Catlett) Smith on September 3, 1932 in Westerville, Nebraska. He married Rosemary Kipper on July 19, 1992 in Aurora, Illinois. She preceded him in death on October 3, 2010 Dean was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion and Boys Town supporter. He owned and operated his own trucking company for 32 years. He was also a former NASCAR owner, driver and enthusiast. He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed cooking, having and training his dogs and who loved his family time.
