She was born to George and Mary (nee Schafer) Epplin on December 30, 1953 in DuQuoin, Illinois. Ruth Ann married Marvin Koester on January 17, 1970. He survives.. She was a self-employed truck driver. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. She enjoyed Harley riding and was a member of WOW - Women on Wheels.
