DANIEL H. HARTMANN, 82, of Baldwin, was called to his heavenly home at 2:05 am, Friday, April 12, 2013, at St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri, with his family by his side. He had sustained head injuries from a fall at his home. He was born on December 10, 1930, to Henry and Hilda (nee Laufer) Hartmann in Baldwin, Illinois. He married Patsy Falkenhein on October 10, 1958, at St. John Lutheran Church in Baldwin. Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Hilda Hartmann, and one sister, Marian Bradfield. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patsy of Baldwin; two daughters, Cheryl Graber (fiancé Todd Young) of St. Louis, Karen (Jim) Schulz of St. Louis, and one son, Michael Hartmann of Freeburg. He was loved by his eight grandchildren, Ryan (Chelsea) Wegener, Robbie Graber, Taylor and Matthew Schulz, Emily and Jessica Hartmann, and Megan Steibel; his three great-grandchildren, Alexa and Brendyn Wegener and Brayden White; his sister, Dorothy (Melvin) Kangas of Anacortes, Washington, his brother, Henry (Sue) Hartmann of Sparta, and his brother-in-law, Jim Bradfield of Indio, California. Danny proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1951 - 1955 when he was honorably discharged. He spent much of that time stationed in Japan. From there he returned home to join his father in running the family business, Hartmann Farm Supply, Inc., and later he and his brother opened the Millstadt location. He was well-known and well-respected in the farming industry. He continued working the New Holland farm implement dealership with his brother, Henry, until the final day of his life. He was baptized, confirmed, and remained a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in Baldwin. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #619 in Baldwin and he served the Baldwin Fire Department as a volunteer for over 55 years. Danny, also was known as "Rabbit" to his friends. He was an avid Rams football fan and never missed a season's game with his football crew.
