CHARLES E. "GENE" CARNAHAN, 77, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 11:30 pm on Friday March 29, 2013, at his home in Chester, Illinois. He was born to the late Edward C. and Ola Mae (nee Wheeling) Carnahan on November 7, 1935 in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri. Gene was a retired tractor driver for U.S. Steel. He was a member of the First Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Chester, IL. He was also a member of the Chester Eagles and a Mason. He enjoyed daily walks at the local parks, solving the world's problems with the guys at Hardees, and the peacefulness of sitting down by the river. He always had a friendly word for whomever he met; he never knew a stranger.
