VELMA M. SMITH, 82, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 7:20 am, Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Memorial Hospital in Chester, Illinois. She was born to the late Roscoe and Ethel (nee Benjamin) Etherton on July 6, 1930 in Sparta, Illinois. She married Earl C. Smith on August 27, 1948 in Sparta, Illinois; he preceded her in death on January 26, 2006. Velma was a retired bindery worker for Spartan Printing. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, in Steeleville, IL, VFW Auxiliary in Chester, IL and the American Legion Auxiliary in Steeleville, IL.
