John Lewis Taylor

JOHN LEWIS TAYLOR, 80, of Memphis, Tennessee, formerly of Chester, Illinois, passed away Monday, October 1, 2012 at Methodist University Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee. He was born to the late Richard Floyd and Esther C. (nee Coon) Taylor on May 23, 1932 in Rochester, New York. He married Peggy Conner on January 6, 1965 in Rochester, New York; she preceded him in death on December 20, 2010. John was a policeman in Rochester, NY for a number of years. He was shot in the line of duty and was critically wounded. Peggy was worked as a dispatcher and received the call that John was dying. He pulled through and they both retired. They moved to Ft. Myers for a while, and then to Memphis, where John worked for Conner Marketing Associates. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #72 in Chester, the Shriners in East St. Louis, Illinois and also the Eastern Star Chapter 411 in Sparta, Illinois. He was a sweetheart and he had a fabulous sense of humor. His smile was nothing short of brilliant.
