FERN B. CUSHMAN, 93, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 8:10 pm, Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, St. Louis, Missouri. She was born to the late Harry and Rosalla (nee Jany) Colvis on October 7, 1918 in Chester, Illinois. She was married to Bernard Cushman on October 7, 1937 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chester, Illinois; he preceded her in death on August 13, 1975. She had worked as a Secretary for the Assessor's Office at the Randolph County Courthouse and she also worked part-time at the Post Office in Chester during the holiday season. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chester, Illinois and St. Mary's Divine Maternity Catholic Church in Ellis Grove, Illinois. She was also a member of the St. Mary Altar Sodality (D.C.C.W), American Legion Auxiliary in Chester and Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She had been the first president of the West Deanery Council of Catholic Women and was a charter member. She was a charter member of the Newman Auxiliary and she continued her special affiliation until her time of death. She was also charter member of Chester Concert Association, Friends of the Library, and the Randolph County Homemaker Extension. She was the past president of the Music Patrons.
