SISTER ANASTASIA RUBENACKER, ASC, 81, of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, Ruma Center, Ruma, Illinois, passed away at 2:45 pm, Friday, March 9, 2012 at the community's center in Ruma, Illinois. She was born to the late Edwin and Elizabeth (nee Herzing) Rubenacker in Piopolis, Illinois on September 22, 1930. She made her first vows as an Adorer of the Blood of Christ on July 1, 1947 and final profession on July 1, 1952. Sister Anastasia taught in many schools in the Belleville Diocese, including Holy Family School in Cahokia (1949-53), Saints Peter and Paul in Waterloo (1953-55), Immaculate Conception School in Centreville (and principal 1957-63), St. Albert the Great in Fairview Heights (and principal 1963-71). While she taught part time at St. Mary's School in Chester, Illinois from 1981-84, she did prison ministry at Menard Correctional Center. From 1987-93, she provided pastoral care at Maria Care Center in Red Bud, Illinois. She was also on the staff of Casa San Jose in Grants-Milan, New Mexico from 1993-95. She served in community ministry as director of personnel (1971-78), on the house of prayer staff (1979-81), on the pastoral care of the senior Sisters at Ruma (1995-97), and as hospitality coordinator at the Ruma Center (1997-2009).
