Harry Glenn Reid

Harry Glenn "Chub" Reid, 94, of Rockwood, IL, passed away at 9:55 pm on Tuesday February 28, 2012, at Red Bud Nursing Home in Red Bud, IL. He had spent the last four years at R & R Country Care in Ruma. He was born to Harry D. and Cora (nee: Frazer) Reid on May 21, 1917 in Rockwood, IL. He married Frances Surman on September 17, 1949 in Chester, IL. She preceded him in death on July 25, 2002. Chub was a Farmer. He formerly worked at the Shoe Factory in Chester. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chester. He was a Navy veteran of WWII. He enlisted in December 1940 and served on the heavy cruiser the USS Chicago CA29 in the South Pacific and survived it's sinking. He also served on a Subchaser in the Gulf of Mexico. He was a member of the USS Chicago Reunion Association, VFW Post #3553 in Chester, IL and Randolph County Farm Bureau.
