VERNON J. SUHRE, 95, of Ellis Grove, Illinois passed away at 1:12 am, Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Chester Memorial Hospital, Chester, Illinois. He was born to the late Ernest Hugo and Catherine (nee Burgert) Suhre January 7, 1916, at Fort Gage, Illinois. Vernon was married to Mildred I. Rapp on June 7, 1940, at Ellis Grove, Illinois; she preceded him in death on April 15, 2001. Vernon had owned and operated Suhre Café in Ellis Grove, along with his Brother's Charlie and Hugo, from 1945 - 1975. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Ellis Grove, Illinois, Kaskaskia Masonic Lodge #86, Red Bud, V.F.W. Post #3553, Chester, American Legion Post #487, Chester, D.A.V. and the at large Chapter of the Yankee Division Veterans Association. Vernon was a W.W. #2 Army Veteran and was a recipient of the Purple Heart, Silver Star and Bronze Battle Star.
