ALVIN E. HOUBA, 77, of Hecker, Illinois, passed away at 8:45 am, Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at his residence. He was born to the late Edward and Antoinette (nee Kubelka) Houba on October 17, 1934 in Belleville, Illinois He married Carol Schmitz on September 8, 1956 in Belleville, Illinois and they just celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary. He had been a Printer for Scott Air Force Base for 35 years. He was a member of the Anglers Club in Belleville, Illinois. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener. He enjoyed barbecuing for family and friends. He loved to watch his grandchildren play sports and enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals. He was an Air Force Veteran. Survivors: Wife Carol Houba Hecker, IL 2 Children Mark (Shelly) Houba Red Bud, IL Lesa (Steve) Bolt Smithton, IL 1 Sister Arlene (Willard) DeMestri Belleville, IL 5 Grandchildren Austin & Logan Houba Andrea, Nicholas & Kelsey Bolt Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends Preceded in death by Parents & 1 Infant Brother It was Alvin's wishes to be cremated. Memorial Service: 12:00 pm, Saturday, October 22, 2011 Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home, Red Bud, IL Officiating: Father Kenneth York Inurnment: Private Graveside Service will be held at a later time Visitation: Saturday - 10:00 am - 12:00 pm Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home, Red Bud, IL In Lieu of Flowers please make donation to St. Jude's Children Hospital
