PAUL A. SALGER, 64, of Evansville, Illinois, passed away Monday, July 11, 2011 at Saint Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri. He was born to the late Albert and Louise (nee Nehrt) Salger on January 18, 1947 in Red Bud, Illinois. He married Marlene (nee Hoffmann) Matzenbacher on September 20, 1974 at Zion United Church of Christ, St. Joe, Illinois; she survives. He had worked at Peabody Coal until it closed for 24 years. He then worked as a truck driver at the Columbia Quarry until his retirement. He was also a farmer. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Evansville, Illinois and was past President and Vice President of the Church Council and also was an Elder. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1172 in Evansville, IL and served as commander for 20 years. He was also a member of National Turkey Federation, Randolph County Farm Bureau and Ducks Unlimited. He was an Army Veteran.
