MARVIN JOHN AMSCHLER, 82, of Chester, IL, was called home by Jesus at 11:50 pm on Saturday April 23, 2011 at his home in Chester, IL. He rests from the labors and afflictions of this life and enjoys the company of God, His saints, and angels. Marvin will accompany Jesus on the day of His return and the resurrection of the dead. He was born to the late Alfred and Anna (nee: Zerbst) Amschler on August 22, 1928 in Jacob, IL. He was baptized September 2, 1928 and confirmed April 18, 1943 at Christ Lutheran Church in Jacob, IL by Albert Dundek. He married Mildred Heineman of Chester on September 17, 1949 at St. John Lutheran Church in Chester by Rev. O. B. Hussmann. Marvin was a faithful member of Christ Lutheran Church in Jacob until he married Mildred and moved to Chester. He then became a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church in Chester. He had served as an elder, was on the cemetery board, the finance board, and the board of evangelism and stewardship at St. John in Chester. He was retired from the Egyptian Telephone Co-op. Mark Willig and Rev. Peter Ill Interment: St. John Lutheran Cemetery Chester, Illinois Visitation: Friday, 8:00 am - 11:00 am St. John Lutheran Church, Chester, IL PLEASE - NO FLOWERS - In Lieu of Flowers Memorials: St. John Debt Fund or Southern Illinois Hospice It was Marvin's wish to be cremated. Arrangements were handled by Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, IL.
