She was born to the late Frederick and Florence (nee Haley) Conrad on May 28, 1926 in Boston, Massachusetts. She married Herbert W. Gentsch on December 15, 1945 in Boston, Massachusetts; he preceded in death on January 14, 2005. She had been a secretary at the Chester Savings & Loan for 25 years. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Chester, Illinois.
