PETE FORTNER, 92, of Chester, IL, passed away at 2:59 am on Tuesday December 7, 2010, at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur, MO. He was born to Sam and Ida (nee: Mounce) Fortner on August 25, 1918 at Buick, Missouri. Pete married Ruby Canady on March 13, 1942 in Perryville, Missouri. She preceded him in death on July 6, 2005. He was a member of the Gospel Assembly Church in DuQuoin, IL. He was also a WII Army veteran and a life member of the American Legion and VFW in Chester, IL.
