She was born to the late Joseph and Wanda (nee Sechrest) Scheffer on October 29, 1961 in Belleville, Illinois. She married Terry W. Belton on March 29, 1980 in Ellis Grove, Illinois; he survives. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis Grove, Illinois.
