Barbara A. Hanger

BARBARA A. HANGER, 86, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 5:05 am, Sunday, March 13, 2022 at her residence.

She was born to the late Wilfred and Odilia (nee Bert) Thummel on March 25, 1935 in Chester, Illinois.

Barbara married Lenard Hanger on April 16, 1955 in Chester, Illinois; he survives.

She had worked as a nurse at St. Ann’s Nursing Home for over 15 years and had worked in the healthcare industry since she was 16 years old.

Barbara was a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Chester, Illinois. She was also a life member of the V.F.W. Post #3553 Auxiliary in Chester. Barbara enjoyed gardening and working in the yard, fishing in her lake, gambling, traveling and loved spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

It was Barbara’s wish to be cremated. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, March 17, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery with Danny Miller officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Mary’s Catholic School, St. Mary’s Catholic Church or St. Louis Children’s Hospital and memorials are being accepted at Pechacek Funeral Homes in Chester.
