She was born to the late Hazen L. and Mary E. (nee Strohmeier) Cates on September 2, 1956 in Marion, Illinois.

Carol married James Greager on May 1, 1982; he survives.

She was a homemaker.

Carol enjoyed flower gardening and loved animals.
