DONALD L. BARTELS, 85, of Glen Carbon, Illinois, formerly of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 2, 2025 surrounded by his family at his home.

He was born to the late William H. and Welma D. (nee Alms) Bartels, Jr., on September 21, 1939, in Chester, Illinois.

Donald married Patricia Durkee on August 15, 1959, at St. John Lutheran Church in Chester, Illinois; he is survived by his wife, Patricia.

He had worked as a project engineer for Monsanto Corporate Engineering for 29 years.

Don was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Edwardsville, Illinois. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, golfing, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. Don had also managed and coached youth baseball, softball, and soccer.
