Doris Marie Stirnaman-Kloepper

DORIS MARIE STIRNAMAN-KLOEPPER, 92, of Red Bud, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Accolade Healthcare in Waterloo. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, family, music, hard work, and love.

Doris was born on December 26, 1933, in her family home in Modoc, Illinois, to the late Earl and Josephine (nee DuClos) Doiron. On June 16, 1951, she married Donald “Pup” Stirnaman at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairie du Rocher. They shared 25 wonderful years together until his passing on June 8, 1977. On August 4, 1979, she married Marvin Kloepper at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Red Bud. Doris and Marvin shared another 25 years together until his passing on April 4, 2004.

Doris believed in working hard, staying busy, and finding joy in whatever life brought her. She worked in the nursery at St. Clement Hospital, at the Evansville Shoe Factory, and at the Singer/Snyder General Factory. She was also part-owner of The Little Cupboard Restaurant in Prairie du Rocher. Even after retirement—if you could ever really call it retirement—Doris continued working at True Value in Red Bud for many years, where her friendly smile and warm personality brought joy to countless customers. True to her nature, she always found something to keep her busy, including making cheesecakes for Lisa’s Market Street Grille in Prairie du Rocher.

Doris’ greatest passion was music. She was extraordinarily talented, playing the drums, fiddle, piano, guitar, bass, accordion, and banjo, and was a gifted vocalist. Music was woven throughout her life and brought her some of her happiest memories. She especially loved playing with the Kitchen Band in Red Bud and performing alongside her brothers, Jerry and Gene Doiron, and her daughter, Paulette Deterding, first as “Two Kings and Two Queens” and later as “The Majestics.” Those who heard Doris play or sing will never forget the energy, talent, and happiness she brought to every performance.

She also enjoyed ceramics and was deeply involved in her community. Doris was a member of the church choir at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Red Bud, St. Anne’s Council of Catholic Women (CCW), the Hospital Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary and the Red Bud Women’s Club.

Above all, Doris was a woman of deep and unwavering faith. She loved the Lord and was a devout Catholic. Her faith carried her through both the joys and challenges of her life, and she lived that faith not only through her church but through the way she loved, served and cared for others.

Doris’ greatest joy was her family. She treasured her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and took immense pride in each of them. She loved watching her family grow and was happiest when surrounded by the people she loved. She also had a special place in her heart for the St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Rams.

She is survived by her three children - Paulette Deterding, David (Patti) Stirnaman, and Steve (Kay) Stirnaman; eight grandchildren - Alex (Jennifer) Deterding, Carrie (Matt) Laur, Greg (Brittni) Deterding, Lauren (Dan) Niebruegge, Mark (Krissi) Stirnaman, Tony (Amy) Stirnaman, Karen (TJ) Rippelmeyer, and Michael (Cassie) Kloth; and twenty-four great-grandchildren - Claire, Ava, and Blake Deterding, Ty, Annabelle, and Grady Laur, Georgia, Amity, and Jonah Deterding, Drew, Owen, Evan, Tate, and Kade Niebruegge, Greta, Willa, and Audra Stirnaman, Harris, Joe, and Bennett Stirnaman, Harper and Zara Rippelmeyer and Maliha and Gavin Kloth. She is also survived by her two step-daughters - Diane (Ed) Beisiegel and Debbie (Gerald) Koester; five step-grandchildren - Daniel (Angela) Beisiegel, Christine (Amin) Sosa, Brittany (Derek) Morris, Nick (Ali) Koester, and Katie (Ryan) Wilson; eight step-great-grandchildren - Whitney, Courtney, and Ava Beisiegel, Henry and Evelyn Sosa, Taylor Koester, Jaxxon Johnson and Stevie-Lynn Johnson; her sister, Carol Durbin; three sisters-in-law, Suzanna Doiron, Diane Doiron, and Mary Ellen Doiron; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands - Donald “Pup” Stirnaman and Marvin Kloepper; her four brothers - Gene Doiron, Raymond (June & Claradel) Doiron, Jerry Doiron, and Lawrence Doiron; her brother-in-law - Larry Durbin; and her son-in-law - Steve Deterding.

Those who knew Doris will remember her radiant smile, quick laugh, musical talent, strong work ethic, and, most of all, the joy she brought wherever she went. She didn’t simply live a long life; she lived a full life, embracing her family, her faith, her music, and the people around her with an open heart. Her legacy will live on in the family she cherished, the community she brightened, and the generations who will carry her story forward.

We can only imagine the welcome Doris received in Heaven, reunited with so many of the people she loved, and perhaps already finding a piano, a fiddle, or a banjo to play. There is no doubt that Heaven welcomed Doris with open arms.
