Elaine Mcclure

ELAINE EGGEMEYER MCCLURE, 71, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 2:16 am, Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Sparta Community Hospital, Sparta, Illinois.

She was born to the late Vernon and Hannah (nee Hapke) Eggemeyer on October 8, 1949 in Sparta, Illinois.

Elaine married Denis McClure on July 18, 1970 at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Chester; he survives.

Elaine retired after many years of service as an emergency room nurse at Chester Memorial Hospital where she was known for her “antics”, especially during a full moon or on Friday the 13 ^th . She loved to tell stories about some of the interesting nights. Elaine served as a mentor to many new nurses, CNAs and LPNs that started their career at Chester Hospital. Elaine also loved to play the clarinet and was a member of the Chester Muny Band for several years. Most of all, Elaine loved her children and grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Elaine had an infectious smile and loved to make others laugh.

She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville, Illinois.

Elaine planned her funeral service in advance. In lieu of services, the family asks that you remember Elaine’s smile, laughter and stories that she told.

Memorials may be made in Elaine’s memory to Chester Memorial Hospital or Western Egyptian Economic Opportunity Council (Chester Senior Center) and memorials are being accepted at Pechacek Funeral Homes in Chester.
