Evelyn Mae Muench

EVELYN M. MUENCH , 93 , of Red Bud , Illinois, died peacefully at 7:03 am, Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Garden Place, Red Bud, Illinois.

She was born to the late Alfred F. “Bank” and Norma (nee Burgdorf) Guebert on January 28, 1929 in Red Bud, Illinois.

Evelyn married Vernon Muench on August 5, 1951 at St. John Lutheran Church, Baldwin, Illinois; he survives.

Evelyn graduated from Red Bud High School and attended Concordia Teachers College in River Forest, Illinois. In 1947 she began teaching at St. Peter’s Lutheran School in Evansville where she taught Grades 1-6. In 1949 she moved to St. John’s Lutheran School in Red Bud where she taught for several years. She served as Assistant Librarian, and later Librarian, at Red Bud Public Library for 25 years. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran church. She enjoyed reading, traveling, singing in the church choir, and spending time with family.

The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Garden Place in Red Bud and Maple Creek Hospice of Sparta.
