GARRETT WAYNE “GARY” CASETTA, 69, of Chester, Illinois, passed away peacefully from cancer at 3:52 am, Sunday, November 2, 2025, after a short stay at Three Springs Senior Living and Rehabilitation, Chester, Illinois.
He was born to the late Donald S. and Dorothy (nee Jany) Casetta on October 11, 1956 in Red Bud, Illinois.
Gary married April Stallman on April 25, 2009 in Chester, Illinois; she survives.
He grew up in Chester, Illinois attending St. Mary’s Catholic Grade School, was a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church and was a 3rd degree knight of Chester Knights of Columbus #3790.
Gary worked alongside his father Don, at his business “Don’s Machine and Welding”. After his father’s passing in 1982, Gary carried on the family business for 40 years. He was a dedicated and respected member of the business community. Gary had also worked as a millwright for Baldwin power plant as well as several other locations. He retired from the Millwright Local Union #716. His many friends and coworkers will miss his presence in their lives.
Gary was involved in many activities and groups including Montroy’s softball league, bowling league (300 ring-perfect game), Chester Boat Club, Breezy Hill Flyers RC Model Plane Club and was a Ducks Unlimited supporter. He grew up with a love for the outdoors, deer hunting with relatives in Chester and Steeleville area. He also loved the simple pleasures in life, often sitting on the porch watching the birds while drinking coffee and sharing the beauty of nature with his wife April in the morning and grilling or smoking meat in the evenings.
