George Harrison Dailey, Sr.

January 19, 1928 — August 3, 2022

GEORGE HARRISON DAILEY, SR. , 94, of Red Bud, Illinois, passed away at 8:16 am, Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Reflection at Garden Place, Columbia, Illinois.

He was born to the late Chester and Maryann (nee Eldridge) Dailey on January 19, 1928 in Warren, Pennsylvania.

Upon his discharge from the U.S. Army in 1947, he met the woman of his dreams, Mildred “Millie” Mae Kalinowski, on his bus journey back to Warren. After over a year’s courtship, they married October 30, 1948 in St. Louis, Missouri, and ultimately made the city and surrounding area their home for life. Their devotion to each other continued for 67 years, until Millie’s death on May 8, 2016.

Early in his work life George was involved with industrial engineering. However, his skills in drafting propelled him into a long career of civil engineering posts with then Sverdrup & Parcel Engineering and the Illinois Department of Transportation.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Red Bud, Illinois.

Wesley and Emmett Breidenbach

Several generations of relatives on both sides of the family

Preceded in death by: Parents, Wife, and 2 Daughters – Nancy Ann Dailey and infant Margaret Mary Dailey

A Private Visitation and Service will be held on Monday, August 8, 2022 at Pechacek Funeral

Home in Red Bud, Illinois with Msgr. Dennis Schaefer officiating. Burial will be held at St.

John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Red Bud, Illinois.

In Lieu of flowers or other offerings, the family asks for consideration of donations to the Lewy

Body Dementia Association (www.lbda.org).
