Gib married Leona Buch on June 13, 1959 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Red Bud (Prairie), Illinois; she survives.

He owned and operated Buch Trucking.

He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Red Bud (Prairie), Illinois.
