GILBERT DWAYNE KESSEL, 73, of Mahomet, Illinois, formerly of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 6:50 am, Thursday, February 28, 2019 in Mahomet, Illinois.
He was born to the late William and Electa (nee Worthen) Kessel on June 1, 1945 in Ava, Illinois.
Dwayne married Linda Baldock on August 7, 1965 at First Baptist Church in Chester, Illinois; she survives.
He worked as a trackman for Union Pacific Railroad for 35 years and was a part time custodian at Chester National Bank for 30 years. After retirement, Dwayne enjoyed mowing and driving people to the airport and doctor appointments.
Dwayne was a member of First Baptist Church in Chester for 54 years where he served as a trustee and counter. Dwayne enjoyed woodworking and crafts and was an avid reader of history. He was also a treasurer for Boy Scout Troop #347, an election judge for several years and a volunteer at the Chester Senior Center.
