Harold H Thies

HAROLD H. THIES, 95, of Red Bud, Illinois, passed away at 12:15 pm, Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at his daughter’s house surrounded by his family.

He was born to the late Sigmund and Clara (nee Rubach) Thies on July 10, 1929, in Wine Hill, Illinois.

Harold married Lillian Valleroy on June 4, 1955, at St. John Lutheran Church in Ruma, Illinois; she preceded him in March 5, 2013.

He had worked at International Shoe Company in Evansville and Chester, and then spent over 40 years as a machine operator at Snyder General in Red Bud.

Harold was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Red Bud, Illinois, and V.F.W. Post # 3553 in Chester, Illinois.

Harold enjoyed spending time mowing grass, picking up pecans, and handing them out to people. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was an avid bingo player with his wife and a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Harold drove his car till the age of 94.

Harold served in the Army as a Corporal during the post-war era of World War II, from 1951 to 1952, and was stationed in Germany.
